Zephras is under development: pages and data are still being added and may change. Tell us what is missing. This is the new design, on trial: rate it at the foot of the page, or go back to the current design.

Upload your data

The Zephras Collector addon records the NPCs, quests, drops, vendors, and trainers you meet. Send its save file here, and what it recorded joins the database once it is checked.

Before you upload

  1. You need the addon. Zephras Collector 1.5.1 is on CurseForge; the Collector page says what it records and what it never records. The Zephras Uploader can install it for you.
  2. Log out or type /reload. The game writes the addon's file only then.
  3. Find the file at World of Warcraft\_classic_beta_\WTF\Account\<account>\SavedVariables\ZephrasCollector.lua (on a Mac the game folder is usually /Applications/World of Warcraft/_classic_beta_).
  4. Sign in with Battle.net. The sign-in ties each upload to one account, so one person cannot pose as many. Zephras sees only your BattleTag, never your password.

Send a file

Checking sign-in…

What happens next: every file is checked automatically. Your first file waits for a reviewer; after that, a clean file is accepted automatically and a file the checks question waits for a reviewer. Accepted is not yet published: a record appears at the next morning's update once a trusted player or two players agree. Zephras reads the file as data and never runs it; sending the same file twice stores it once. What is kept is on the privacy page.

Or let the uploader do it

The Zephras Uploader, a free desktop app, installs the addon (its Install the addon button), keeps it up to date, finds the save file by itself, and can send it every time you log out. With Share quest and NPC cache ticked (it is on unless you untick it), it also sends the cache the game keeps of what its server told you: quest text, objectives, and rewards, and NPC and object names, which fills in quests no game file holds. Setup, updates, and questions: the Uploader page.

SHA-256 of the chosen file: c61b893be22d8929539fcbb99f3de4c9be8fb7b9150bce2cb48d8943221d670d

Zephras is a free project and does not pay for code signing, so the first start asks once. Windows may show "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway; it installs for your user only. Mac: open the disk image, drag the app to Applications, then right-click it and choose Open the first time. Linux: install the .deb (for example sudo apt install ./ZephrasUploader-0.10.0-amd64.deb), or make the AppImage executable and run it (only the AppImage updates itself); then point the app at the game folder inside your Wine or Lutris prefix. The app can update itself; see App updates in the app.

To check a download is genuine, compare its SHA-256 (Windows PowerShell: Get-FileHash; Mac and Linux: shasum -a 256) with the one under the button; choosing another system shows that file's own.
